Donte’s Foundation Announces New Scholarship Initiative for Underprivileged Students

DERWOOD (February 1, 2022) — Donte’s Foundation has announced a new fundraising initiative that will provide at least 28 at-risk children with free access to its youth wellness program, Donte’s Boxing Academy.

”We’ve created a more preventative treatment to health, as to reverse the trends of depression, lowered confidence, and other physical and mental challenges in children,” says founder and boxing coach, Donté Brown. “We need donors and community sponsors to help fulfill this need.”

Since the launch of Donte’s Boxing Academy last fall, the waitlist for financial assistance to attend the program continues to grow.

Scholarships will help meet demand in the local community for constructive wellness programs for children that happen to be from low-income families.

According to applicant data, 86% of applying students reported a total household income of less than $25,000, which in most cases falls below the federal poverty line.

For one student to go through the program costs $750 per quarter. The Student Scholarship Initiative has a goal of raising $21,000 by March 6, which will cover the complete cost of instruction, equipment, and activities for 28 students in the Spring.

While the foundation works on fundraising efforts, it will continue offering both partial and fully-funded scholarships.
