Amateur Competition Launches at Donte’s Boxing Academy

DERWOOD (April 14, 2022) — Donte’s Foundation has launched Amateur Competition training, the next phase of development for its boxing and wellness program, Donte’s Boxing Academy.

“This is exciting news because we’ll be able to showcase our talented students and truly help them become champions in our community,” says founder and boxing coach Donté Brown. "This will inspire their peers to see their success and mimic their accomplishments.”

Brown plans on entering academy students into local amateur bouts as soon as late April.

Students at Donte’s Boxing Academy can register for competition training after successfully completing the first two levels of the program. Those that wish to compete can register as amateur boxers under the academy’s host organization and practice facility, Donte’s Boxing Gym.

The amateur competition program was helped along by the foundation’s donors, particularly those that contributed to the Student Scholarship Initiative this past spring. The initiative sought to raise $21,000 to fund underprivileged and at-risk youth through the academy.

”We want to thank all of our donors for their contributions to help this opportunity come true,” says Brown. “We look forward to adding more programs and events to support our students.”
